Ki O Rahi in their schools!! Auckland University of Technology (AUT) ran a Prefects Training Program (PTP) with Prefects from 40 schools in and around Auckland. The program was a series of 3 day camps which focused on leadership and included tasks that were designed to “bring out the leader” in the students.

Kaiwhakahaere from the Te Tauihu team (He Oranga Poutama) worked with AUT staff to teach the prefects not only how to play but also how to set up a field and referee the game. The plan is for Ki O Rahi to be taught in all 40 schools with a lead up to the Matariki Secondary Schools competition held over in the North Shore on June the 30th.

The schools from the Counties Manukau region that participated in the PTP program included Aorere College, Papakura High School, Tangaroa College, Botany Downs Secondary Schools College, Southern Cross Campus, Sir Edmond Hillary Collegiate, Alfriston College and Waiuku College.
