Thanks Mate kicks off

10 March 2010

We have kicked off the Thanks Mate programme for 2010, by announcing our February winner. Nominations have come in from a variety of sports clubs including Special Olympics, rugby, swimming and netball. The nominations are all celebrated on our website so please visit the Thanks Mate section on our website to read about all the hard work the nominees have put in for their clubs.

All nominees each month are put into a draw to win a bed-and-breakfast voucher for two, for selected Millennium Hotels (courtesy of Millennium Hotels). The winner for February was John Gray of Counties Manukau Rugby Union. His nominator, said this of John...

John has supplied 20 years of continued service as disciplinary officer for the CMRFU. Due to ill health he is standing down this year. This role involves attending hearings every Tuesday, however as chairman he is required to do a lot of briefing work for each case. The work load involved in this role is large and very much appreciated by the CMRFU. John works on a philosophy that his role is to provide a safe and enjoyable game for all players at all ages and levels. It is a philosophy that he has worked to closely and which we believe has ensured many kids have continued to participate in the game of rugby and remained active.”

Congratulations John, from Counties Manukau Sport!
