Waikato River Alive has provided 10 swimming lessons to every student from Mercer, Meremere, Pokeno, Harrisville, Tuakau and Te Kura Kaupapa o te Puaha o Waikato Primary Schools.
Thanks to these lessons more children are becoming better swimmers and their confidence in the water is growing. “The children’s confidence has grown as well as their ability to participate in water sports” says Tuakau Primary principal Margret Kaa.
Starting in Term 4 every student from Te Kohanga, Onewhero will also be receiving these swimming lessons.
