Seeking Funding

Gaming Trusts/Societies run gaming machines at local sites/venues around the country (often in a local pub or hotel). By law, a proportion of the income generated from these machines, must be given back to the community. There are a number of gaming trusts that operate within the Counties Manukau region.

Funding for Community Groups and School can be found on the DIA website - Click Here

Application forms are available from a societies website or at the gaming venue. Which can be found on the link above. Ensure you read criteria set out by each gaming society/trust. Your reason for applying needs to match the criteria set out by the gaming society/trust.  The whole application form must be completed. Completed application forms must be sent to the Gaming Society not the venue.

Completing the Application Form

  • Fill in every section of the form - assume the funder knows nothing about your school or project. If a section is not applicable to you - explain why
  • Be specific. Answer the questions why, what, who and how
  • Attach all the information requested, including relevant background information
  • Use clear and concise language
  • Print or type the form to make it easy to read
  • Get another person to check that it makes sense, that all sections have been completed and you have attached all requested documents.
  • Make a copy of your application

Finances

  • Specify the amount and the part of your project you are applying for.  Be realistic - it is very rare to be offered 100% funding.
  • Provide a budget.
  • Attach quotes from places where you intend to buy goods (sometimes the funder requests more than one quote).
  • List other organisations you have applied to and when you expect to hear from them

Have you remembered everything?

  •      Letter written on School Letter Head from the BOT passing a resolution, authorising the forwarding of an application to a society for funding of PE/PA/Sports equipment/camps/etc for the school.
  •    Letter must be signed by Secretary, Chairperson or Principal
  •    Bank deposit slip for School Account
  •    Quotes from suppliers for equipment needs/camps/etc
  •    Covering letter with application
  •    Keep a copy of application for School records
  •    A copy of receipts must be forwarded to society within the timeframe stipulated.
  •    Thank you/feedback/relationship letter with receipts
