He Oranga Poutama encourages Maori participation in sport and physical activity and is part of a growing awareness amongst Maori to take more care with health and wellbeing - Whanau ora.

He Oranga Poutama was founded in 1998 by SPARC (Sport and Recreation NZ) to focus on the needs of Maori people and communities, and give local support to whanau and individuals living in our communities.
