Simon Kent is a member of GACU (Greater Auckland Coaching Unit) with responsibilities in the Counties Manukau Region.
Simon believes community sport can benefit from an increased number of Community Coaches. Providing Coaching Programmes and Coach Education will provide more opportunities for our clubs, schools and community groups to retain coaches.
Simon has over ten years Coaching experience in a variety of sports at both professional and amateur levels. Simon has worked as a Strength & Conditioning Coach with the Auckland Rugby High Performance Unit and NPC team and was also involved with St George Illawarra.
Currently, he is the Coaching Co-ordinator for Olympic Weightlifting NZ and Head Coach of the Papatoetoe Olympic Weightlifting Club.
Through his work as a Coach in the Counties Manukau region Simon has seen first-hand the issues around Coach Development, retention and recruitment and wants to be of real assistance to our community in these areas.
