Coaching

Geoff Moon is the Recently appointed Coaching Manager for Counties Manukau Sport. He is a member of the GACU (Greater Auckland Coaching Unit) with responsibilities in the Counties Manukau Region.

He has lived in South Auckland all his life and has always believed that this is where the talent is nationally; his motivation in this Job is that better Coaching Programmes and more opportunities for our Youth will see that talent surface and achieve.

He is a Level 4 Qualified NZRFU Coach with 25 Years Coaching Experience. His previous employment was as Coaching Manager at Auckland Rugby Union; he has coached extensively in the United Kingdom and recently enjoyed 3 great years there with his family at the Premiership Rugby Club Bristol. Prior to that he was the high Performance Manager at Auckland Rugby responsible for all the elite player development Programmes.

He has had 15 years’ experience as either a Secondary School Physical Education Teacher or Director of Sport, having taught at Otahuhu College, De La Salle College and Aorere College,and two years at Otahuhu Intermediate as a beginning teacher all these schools are in South Auckland. In his time as a Teacher he has coached all the Sparc priority Sports.

Through his work as a School Teacher and sports Coach he has seen first-hand the issues around Coach Development, retention and recruitment and wants to be of real assistance to our community in these areas.
