Cluster Counties Manukau
Counties Manukau has 12 traditional school sport clusters at Intermediate and Primary School level.
4 of these are Zones: Franklin Zone, Counties Zone, South Eastern Zone and South Western Zones. These zones are made up of Intermediate Schools. (Year 7 & 8’s) and include the clusters of North Counties, East Counties and Central Counties. These clusters are the full primary schools (meaning they have Year 7 & 8 students at their schools).
Each of these Counties Clusters play in the Zone competition as 1 Intermediate School representing their cluster. This could be Year 7 & 8’s from one particular primary school or the best of the clusters Year 7 & 8 students.
At Year 7 & 8, students have a Zone competition, against every intermediate school in their zone and the winning team is chosen to represent their Zone at the Inter-Zone Competition, also known as Auckland Champions of Champion. Schools in the Zone competition contribute to AAIMS Year 7 & 8 Sports Organisation, which has an executive committee who administers sport across the whole of Auckland.
North Counties, East Counties and Franklin Zone Groups, also cater for their Year 5 & 6 students. Schools within the group organise the competition days. However the Year 5 & 6 students do not go on to any further competition.
5 of the Clusters are Year 5 & 6 only clusters. These clusters are Howick/Pakuranga, Otara North, Papatoetoe, Mangere/Otahuhu and Manurewa. This is an interschool competition and again these students don’t go onto any further competition.
Supplied on the next pages, is information on each cluster, the key contact person, the schools involved. If you are able to help or provide resources please contact the cluster chairperson.
