Primary Sport Otara and Papatoetoe Clusters

The John Walker “Find Your Field of Dreams” Foundation Primary Sport Programme delivered by Counties Manukau Sport has entered its fourth successful year. The programme delivers sporting opportunities to children in Manukau.
The 40 schools that Primary Sport work with are based in Otara and Papatoetoe. The programme has been so successful that it has expanded into Mangere and Otahuhu at Inter School Cluster level (school versus school competition) and in Manurewa where it is delivered by Counties Manukau Sport but funded through KiwiSport.
In 2012, The John Walker “Find Your Field of Dreams” Foundation Primary Sport Programme delivered sport to over 6000 children. Since the programme was launched by the Prime Minister, the programme has worked with almost 10000 children. Participants are counted once they have taken part in four hours of sport.
The Primary Sport team comprises of two full-time coordinators who work alongside the schools. The team are able to deliver to large numbers of children due to the heartbeat of the programme a dedicated and committed unit of coaches which are sourced locally and work to deliver high quality sporting experiences for children in the area.
