Primary Sport Otara and Papatoetoe Clusters
The John Walker "Find Your Field of Dreams" Foundation Primary Sport Programme is now in it's second year, supporting primary school sport in Otara and Papatoetoe, for Year's 4 - 6. Our aim is to increase participation in Primary School children in the Otara and Papatoetoe clusters.
We aim to implement this by providing schools with breakfast, lunchtime and after school sports programmes; support in Inter and intra school sports and cluster days and In-School Support. This is achieved by each cluster having a Primary Sport Coordinator which support the pupils and the schools with high quality support in sport.

Background to Primary Sport
How Primary Sport started
Manukau is a very young city 26% of its population are under 15 years of age. Many of these young people live in areas classified as socio-economically ‘very deprived’ and attend low decile schools.
Despite this Manukau has always lead the way in bring talented individuals to the worlds spotlight. Sir John Walker, Valerie Vili, Jonah Lomu, Ruben Wiki, Scott Dixon and Barbara Kendall to name just a few have reached the top of their sport and all the while calling Manukau home. These Champions found their field of dreams and we believe Manukau children can find theirs.
Primary Sport will provide opportunities for Manukau Primary Schools (Yr 5 & Yr 6) to purse positive pathways through Sport and Physical Recreation (initial project of 6 months in Otara and PapatoetoePrimary Schools).
